Joyeux Anniversaire Sonia Rykiel !

Wednesday night was Sonia Rykiel's 40 year anniversary (the brand, not the lady).
Her vision of the French woman has always been that of a strong yet playful, fun-loving and daring Parisienne. Although you would find a lot of her gowns rather romantic, Sonia Rykiel herfelf has always rejected the idea of romanticism to describe her clothes. Even a few seasons ago, I remember being stunned by the words that came out of Rykiel's mouth, always unexpectedly provocative. The show and afterparty were held in a magical place on top of a hill in western parisian Parc de Saint-Cloud. Guests were lining up to be driven by London cabs and vintage cadillacs, to a huge tent that had a panoramic view on Paris.
Wool, sequins, Red, Black, Pinks, Eiffel Towers.... are amongst the few fetishes in Sonia Rykiel's fashion.
Her daughter and heiress Nathalie Rykiel, now Artistic Director for the brand, presented Sonia with an amazing "surprise" (the kind everybody knows about way before) : they asked all of Fashion's big designers to come up with a silouhette in hommage to Sonia Rykiel. Eye-tearing moment. The crowd was VERY enthousiastic when some of the names were spoken : Jeremy Scott, Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Ann Demeulemeester, Rodarte...
A night to remember...

JCDC & Hilary Alexander getting crunk after the "surprise" tribute show.

Cats are said to be sensitive to loud noise. But nothing was gonna stop this guy from wearing one.

Glamourous attendees Damian & hot friend...

Someone was apparently eating roses.

What are you lookin' at ?
